Design/Build
McGray & Nichols teams up with the most talented architects available to provide clients with the most diverse and unique custom homes in the Lake Sunapee area. When the homeowner, builder and architect work together as a team from day one, the benefits are immeasurable.
A few of the benefits are cost savings during design, adherence to a budget, use of practical construction methods and ease of moving from the design phase to the building phase. As part of the team, we are able to bring costs in on budget and maintain the design as the architect intended.
Construction Management
Some clients come to McGray & Nichols with completed plans in hand. We provide the same budgeting emphasis by bidding the plans within our large pool of pre-selected subcontractors to provide the best price. We are noted for bringing our projects in on time and on budget while maintaining the highest quality of construction.
Personalized Material Selection Guidance
During the custom home building process many decisions are required from the homeowner. To ease the stress, McGray & Nichols includes as part of the process a unique special service to aid the homeowner during the decision making process. We can act as liaison between client and interior designer/decorator or will work directly with the homeowner. We have an extensive reference library and can guide decision making on tile selections, plumbing fixtures, appliances, cabinetry or paint color choices to name a few. We work closely with our subcontractors and provide to the client many samples to be approved before commencement of a task. This ensures the homeowner is truly getting the custom result they envisioned.
Green Building
Incorporating an energy efficient design requires added thought and time during the design process. We start by considering our local climate, the building site, available resources, the cost versus added value of efficiency upgrades and aesthetics. A home’s efficiency can be enhanced by simply increasing insulation levels, improving air sealing products and taking steps to reduce air infiltrations. All of our homes exceed NH Energy code requirements by installing closed cell insulation or SIP panels. We have also installed several geothermal heating and cooling systems as well as solar water heating systems. We work with our clients to develop the green building components to meet your budget and needs.
