Incorporated in 1963, McGray and Nichols Builders has experience in all phases of construction including remodeling, historical renovations and specializing in custom homes. We offer quality construction, timely completions and accurate estimates. We are the only home builder in our area that has won two national awards for quality construction. We are also noted for working as a "team" with architects to provide the client with a pleasant experience.

Although we work with many of our client's architects, we also offer Design/Build services.

The following is an outline of our Design/Build process.
There are three phases to our process.

 

Phase 1

After the initial consultation with our clients and during the design phase, we inspect the site for the best location of house, basic shape, sun orientation, elevation, access and views, etc. We then meet with the client for additional input as to budget, personal requirements, living style, basic style of house preferred, etc. Given the above information we create preliminary designs for one to three suggested floor plans.

Phase 2

Phase two consists of finalizing working drawings, pricing and obtaining permits. During the pricing stage, detailed specifications are generated which later become part of our contract. We obtain three bids from qualified, experienced, insured subcontractors to obtain the best possible price without sacrificing quality.

Phase 3

During the construction process the key words are Quality and Communication.

Quality: There is a superintendent on site all day as well as a project manager who visits once or twice a day. We build each home as though we ourselves will be moving in.

We encourage clients to become as involved as they wish. You can be at the site every day or come only at the end of the completed house. The common practice is for site visits during crucial periods; more often towards final completion.

Communication: We pride ourselves in keeping you informed. As a supplement to phone or person to person, onsite or office conferences, we have available Fax and Email service - so we are never any farther away than the nearest phone line.
